Lila French

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I want to live my life ...
with INTEGRITY. With GENEROSITY. With PASSION. I want to fulfill my potential as a human being. I once saw an interview with Ron Howard, and he said he didn't sleep much because he was always excited about the projects he was working on. I want to live like that. I don't fit into a box. I don't think anyone does, especially me.

If I had to pick one word to describe myself ...
it would be bellyfire. I want to use my intelligence and creativity to make things happen. I want to have an impact on society. I want to use art and film to change people's minds. I want to make a connection. I want to be able to take care of the people I love. I'm the person you want to have a billion dollars. I'll know how to spend that so that the world's overall happiness is increased as much as possible.

Bio ...
Lila was born and raised in Metairie, LA, which is just outside of New Orleans. Her parents still live there. Their house is fine. Her grandparents' house, however, got about 10 feet of water and had to be torn down.

When Lila was in high school, she was really REALLY into math. She was so into it, she thought she would to go M.I.T., have a torrid love affair with math, and eventually win a Fields Medal. Well, Lila went to M.I.T., took a bunch of math classes, but the relationship fizzled. Lila instead graduated with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Computer Science and somehow became a pole vaulter and heptathlete on the Women's Track & Field team. Oh yeah, not somehow, her boyfriend at the time was on the Men's Track team, and watching from the sidelines is NOT HOW LILA ROLLS. Lila held school records in the pole vault, heptathlon, and javelin, and was the MVP her senior year.

After graduation, Lila moved to San Francisco to work as a software engineer, while continuing to pole vault competitively. After a year of mind-numbing, soul-crushing work in corporate America, she switched to part-time contract work to allow herself to train more seriously. And in 2002, Lila made the move to Jonesboro, Arkansas to train with some of the country's best pole vaulters at Bell Athletics. It was one of the best experiences of her life. Lila was doing what she was passionate about.

In 2004, Lila moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. She immediately enrolled in classes at the renowned Beverly Hills Playhouse, where she has been taught by Allen Williams, Allen Barton, and Art Cohan. Currently Lila is working on Leonard Melfi's BIRDBATH, which she will perform in Fall 2008.
